Open Letter to SOTONGs

First published on WordPress, August 21, 2013
Dear SOTONGs,

Sengkang residents have seen/ heard (for some, touched) the incorrigible mess/ rubbish degenerated from Worst Practice Advertiser to Bad Apple, Messy Dumping Ground to Grandfather Ground, and Over/ Above The Boss to Grandfather Law. The neighbourhood areas are in fact much more livable/ cleaner/ peaceful during your short/ intermediate/ preferred absence.

If you do not wish to believe in our high surveillance CCTV, you can at least have faith in our fully committed boss (or even our prestigious accreditation body). As usual, you can also take plenty of rest after the complete control/ draining by your evil spirit/ mind.

Dump away your black heart and rethink your dream path! In the meantime – Eeny, Meeny, Miney, Moe – do your little part for a Clean and Green Singapore!

Best wishes to all! Alas, Many SOTONGs … One Sengkang – blending with the not-so-cute monkeys (and crab) on the background wall.

Monkey Business 2013

First published on WordPress, February 13, 2013
After new year 2013 (January 1), the Missing In Action MIA (aka Monkey In Business MIB) proudly advanced as planned – Rubbish-full/ Quality-less/ Productivity-zero.

Chinese New Year CNY 2013 eve/ celebration were not spared from MIA/ MIB. There were piles of rubbish/ bulk items left around the common area to spoil the festive mood. Luckily, the huge pile of rubbish managed to clear off before the start of another new year (just-in-time for the last Dragon Year garbage collection from designated rubbish area), as SembWaste had worked late after 6pm on CNY eve. On another CNY day, residents were greeted with a huge blocking cupboard placed in the midway of the walking path (again, no big deal to move away).

Besides the nuisance/ sabotage, a certain group downstairs also contributed regularly to the challenging/ messy environment. Some of discarded items on common area (such as after-party cake box/ after-eat cereal box/ after-wash detergent container) pinpointed the source of these items (through simple logic/ deduction). In other words, this certain group only believed in keeping own premises spick and span, but care less of wherever outside/ common area.

Let's took a closer look at the not-so-cute monkeys on the backgroundSo to say, same same and dump dump for another year 2013!

The Ultimate Collection of Mr/ Ms Bin

First published on WordPress, October 30, 2012
The ultimate collection of Mr/ Ms Bin to exhibit/ portray the exclusive (harassment) side of life (in Sengkang)!

Exhibit 1: The trashes/ bins are acting fierce and fearless (of cctvs), but timid and thoughtless deep in the heart.
Exhibit 2: The top/ bottom bins are keeping a distance between own selves, leaving the gap the wider the merrier.
Exhibit 3: One exhibit is definitely not enough, better mess up more bins to make a bigger/ longer impression.
Exhibit 4: More free play to make it even more extraordinary, by scattering more rubbish on the grounds.
Exhibit 5: The bins are lying flat to be as low as possible, getting dead tired after the terrific work.

Trash Message 2012

First published on WordPress, September 18, 2012
More trash messages/ conversations

Trash: Sotong! (first insult)
Green: Fine to be little unwise for a small while. Just to clear the many doubt of the bigger SOTONGs, with a slim hope.

Trash: Stone! (more insult)
Green: Look further, stones are common everywhere. Still trying very very hard on meaningful search for a diamond heart.

Trash: Go fly kite! (NDR on 26 August)
Green: HOPELESS/ HEARTLESS cannot fly high/ proud. Will be worth all the while when many gain/ see real changes in home.

Even more trash extras/ messages/ conversations

Green: How come you are capable of so many wrongs/ extremes (like mess-up/ harassment/ sabotage), from which school of thought/ negative hope?
Trash: Go ask the trainer/ teacher/ friend! (too many angry birds)

Green: How come you are leaving the grounds out of touch/ care and forgetting your real goal/ purpose, taken control by evil/ monster heart?
Trash: Go ask the supervisor/ school/ parent! (nothing like mentor)

Green: Unless you take pride to perform basic task, it will forever be pointless with the trashes/ bins, against productive/ quality home?
Trash: Go ask the boss! (to think world-class)

Untold Story of Black Trash Bag

First published on WordPress, May 15, 2012
Feeling the urge to get attention from passers-by, a black trash bag made its presence at a roadside along a common footpath (from March 2012). Many passers-by would had spotted the black trash bag, but not bothered to have a second look at it. After 1 week under the rain and sun, the black trash bag decided to move to a more prominent location few inches down the road.

After another 2 days of disappointment, the black trash bag decided to make a bolder move by crossing over to the opposite side of the road. The black trash bag seemed happier with the companion of people strolling and jogging by. As the days passed by, the black trash bag stayed lazily at the spot and forgot about its real goal.

After more than 30 days, the black trash bag finally moved off from the memorable spot. Would the black trash bag eventually reach its final dream destination?

More Recycling Sabotage

First published on WordPress, April 19, 2012
Getting through the tough times by overcoming all sort of ugly forces. The unrepentant waves of same continue, without a blink of the eye.

On a thunderstorm morning (on April 2, 2012), the recycling bin (placed at open area) was found lying along the roadside. The first thing that came to my mind was to help the recycling bin to get up on its feet again. However, I was stopped and put off the idea by the sudden violent angry storm of rain/ thunder/ lightning/ wind.

Besides the dull rubbish/ leaves, I had again removed colourful stuff like yellow security vest and purple big balloonI had also called NPP line regarding the suspicious security vest discarded in the recycling bin. Again, I called NPP line regarding another offensive/ sabotage attack (with dead leaves) on the recycling bin (on April 25, 2012).

On few other occasions, the recycling bin was seen lying along the roadside (on August 3, 2012/ October 9, 2013).

Red Bamboo on Green

First published on WordPress, March 22, 2012
With exposure to sunlight, the red bamboos stand out most prominently among the other colorful canes of green/ yellow/ brown/ black. Though I still prefer green over red, the red bamboos are believed to be able to drive away evil spirit/ wrong doing, and to bring forth good luckchange of heart.

After the landscape upkeep (catchy patchy outcome of the mystery puzzle after more than 20 days), it will take some time to see lesser fallen branches/ leaves around strategic locations (such as drain/ road) in Sengkang.

Recycling Sabotage

First published on WordPress, February 28, 2012
Break time to recuperate from relapse of old injury during NS time. While I was recovering from old injury, the recycling bin also suffered severe degree of attacks (by those who detest recycling to the core). The sabotaged items include packed food/ drink, pile of rubbish, cigarette butt/ box, rotten fruits, dead leaves, and so on.

From March 2011 to March 2012, junk to junk, same to same. Would the leading monkeys continue to enjoy the up-to-no-good business, or turn over a new leaf to do straight-through clean job?

Dumping and Missing in Action

First published on WordPress, February 7, 2012
The HDB common area and walk path have become dumping ground for the cleaner, a certain group downstairs and few other bad eggs. Monkeys see, monkeys do. The rubbish and bulk items will eventually accumulate and obstruct the way as the day passes by.

In the morning, the cleaner (the first monkey) would dump bulk items at the common area. I told him to move these bulk items to the bulk area which was just few steps away. Even though the day was still young and bright, his reply was tomorrow. As he turned a deaf ear to my kind advice, I demonstrated to him that it took just few seconds to get the bulk items over to the bulk area.

Before the Chinese New Year (on January 20, 2012), a certain group (the second monkey) celebrated CNY with 8 cartons of Mandarin Oranges, some Huat Kuey (or prosperity cake) and Happy Nut (or pistachio). The aftermath of the occasion was the carton boxes and foods were irresponsibly dumped at the common area till night-time. As another challenge, it took me 1-2 minutes (please excuse me for some photo taking) to clear the mess over to the rubbish area (again just few steps away), and to place the flatten carton boxes inside the recycling bin.

After going around looking for some clues, I found an old message Make Gracious Living Our Way of Life on the notice board, which ironically, was just right next to the messy dumping ground.
