Singapore Unemployment

Based on estimates derived from MOM data, we can see some patterns in Singapore labor market. The unemployed citizens did not improve over the years and were much higher than the overall unemployment rates. There was also excess capacity of non-citizen labor from Year 2001 to Year 2016.

The change in job numbers here for two consecutive years are good indications of job insecurity. A drop for two consecutive years indicated that the labor market was not doing well for citizens. A jump for two consecutive years indicated that the labor market was favorable for non-citizens. A big difference in the change of citizens and non-citizens also indicated low growth for citizens.

The employed citizen rates were shrinking over the years as the labor market here relies a lot on foreign manpower. For every 2.0-2.1 employed manpower, there was only 1.0-1.1 employed citizens. For every 4.5-5.0 unemployed manpower, there were at least 3.5-4.0 unemployed citizens.

In order for us to do a better data analysis on the labor market situation, we need to have a further break-down of the MOM data, such as job sector, profession and nationality (which are currently not available).

The Wrongful Company

The Wrongful Company was (rumoured to be) well-known for its entrenchment (actually fairy tale) on zero retrenchment. The potential candidate would be highly scrutinized for many months and had to pass through (manipulative) rounds of candidate selection/ written test/ job interview/ background check/ security clearance/ medical checkup. The qualified employee would then be given an opportunity to work in a (minuscule) position. The not-so-talented employee would (sooner or later) be blamed for whatever reason and forced into wrongful termination by the Wrongful Company.

Unfair Practice - An approachable company would provide necessary resource/ support/ tool for the work assigned to the employee. For head-start work, the employee would be asked to get the new stuff up and running on its old-and-out-of-support environment. The Wrongful Company would expect the employee to do wonders on its hostile environment, and would not provide (upon request) the required legal license.

Illegal Demand - A professional company would not take advantage of the law by embracing Corporate Governance gracefully. For sensitive-related project, the employee would be asked to sign and adhere to additional legal document (such as Intellectual Property law). The Wrongful Company would demand the employee to follow orders on its legacy way, and would dismiss (upon disobedience) as innocent advice meant to speed up the work.

Low Standard - A reasonable company would listen/ appreciate suggestion from the employee. For old-recurring problem, the employee would be asked to identify its root cause by tracing back all past related issues. The Wrongful Company would blame the employee for its delay/ low standard, and would deny (upon accusation) other work by using the lame excuse.

Improper Exit - A respectable company would not misuse/ abuse the Labour Law to improve fair employment and practice. For wrongly-terminated instance, the employee would be asked to resign own-self to save trouble/ face for the company. The Wrongful Company would accuse the employee to cover up its fault, and would block (upon disagreement) its standard exit/ termination procedure.

To keep it short and simple, The Wrongful Company - Singapore's very own Terminator Engine.

Google Hands-On Half-Truth

I created this Blogger blog on 10-10-2013, and spent quite some time exploring some Google stuff (Google+/ Chrome/ BloggerAnalytics) for the past 6 months. This blog also starts to show some quality advertisements, such as AMEX/ DBS/ Google/ Qoo10/ wenyang 文揚 (finally a change of heart from AdSense on 20-02-2014). Based on my Hands-On Half(-Year)-Truth, the Stats provided by Google look professional, namely by Browsers/ Countries/ Operating Systems.

For Blogger, you should keep the option to track your own pageviews, so that you can do some simple click-test. To do some random checks (or when pageviews are suspiciously low), you can do a Two (or More) Level Test (to solve the mystery). If there is no problem with your Two (or More) Level Test, Google must be extremely kind to you and you may wish to compare the pageviews elsewhere, such as Google+/ Analytics/ AdSense.

First Level Test - You may click on a particular same post from few places, such as from Blogger Hands-On Green Matter/ Google+ Green Matter/ Google Search "Google Hands-On Half-Truth".

Second Level Test - Ask your kind friend (either directly or indirectly) to click on a particular same post from few places, such as from Google+ Green Matter/ Google Search "Google Hands-On Half-Truth".

After my Two Level Test failed, I found that some pageviews (such as from my Google+ Green Matter 32,845 views as at 10-04-2014) had disappeared forever. In some cases, someone should expect some pageviews to disappear some-how/ some-what/ some-where/ some-time (and some more).
